7th Tradition Contributions
Tradition 7: Every AA group ought to be full self-supporting, declining outside contributions.
This flyer is designed to assist group treasurers with easy policies and procedures for self supporting contributions to local district 18, New Hampshire Area 43, and General Service Office in New York. There is also available conference approved literature regarding our seventh tradition. The most common of these being AA pamphlets titled “The AA Group Treasurer” and “Self Support: Where money and spirituality mix”. This literature helps explain the treasurer responsibilities and also the vital outreach and support mission of our service structures. When a group has accumulated funds beyond what is determined to be a “prudent reserve” a group conscience should be held to determine distribution of these funds. “Prudent Reserve” is generally understood to be three months expenses. Traditionally groups will elect to distribute excess funds equally to local district, area conference, and general service office. Distribution proportions are determined by group conscience. Every group is assigned a registration number by GSO. You will see this number on the State Meeting List beside each group’s information. Group name and number should be referenced on all contributions. Any questions or concerns can be brought to the local district monthly meeting through your GSR or addressed via e mail through the above listed district web site.
